HICKORY GRILLE 9, THUNDERPLEX 6

VIENNA -- A four-run fifth inning propelled Hickory Grille to a 9-6 win over host Thunderplex Monday night in Vienna.

Hickory Grille jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning but Thunderplex stormed back with six runs in the second against starting pitcher Jason Evakich. However, Hickory Grille pulled to within 6-5 in the fourth, then took the lead for good in the fifth.

Nate Banick singled twice and scored a pair of runs while Ian Haynes also stroked a pair of hits. Evakich doubled and scored while Clint Ansell also scored twice for Hickory Grille. Chuck Joseph earned the win in relief.

Mike Mattes singled twice for Thunderplex. Lindsay Mizicko took the defeat for the hosts.
