KNOCKOUT'S/CABALLO BAYO 18, JIM'S AUTOMOTIVE & TOWING 6

HERMITAGE -- Knockout's grabbed a 1-0 lead in its first-round series with Jim's Automotive & Towing, earning an 18-6 win at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Tuesday night.

Knockout's, which entered the playoffs on a six-game win streak, posted five first-inning runs en route to the win. Seth Terlecky belted a grand slam during the inning. Jared Terlecky and Rob Thompson also had solo homers for Knockout's. Drew Carpenter and John Wise each doubled. Carpenter, Jared Terlecky and David Harries all added two singles for Knockout's.

Ryan Briggs tossed a complete game for Knockout's, earning the win. Briggs had one strikeout and one walk in seven innings. Defensively, Knockout's turned three double plays.

Dustin Kulka belted a solo homer in the first inning for Jim's Automotive, giving them an early 1-0 lead. Brian Tatomirovich tripled, doubled and singled while Corey Dancak singled twice. Devin Kulka and Bob Young both pitched for Jim's Automotive & Towing, with Kulka taking the defeat.

Game Two is Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul's.
