MERCER BOWL 22, ELEPHANT & CASTLE/INN 62 9
SHENANGO TOWNSHIP -- Mercer Bowl scored 10 first-inning runs Tuesday night en route to a 22-9 victory over host Elephant & Castle/Inn 62 at COG.
Winning pitcher Jim Kopan paced the Mercer Bowl offense with a triple, double, single and a career-high seven runs batted in. Craig Songer collected four hits, including a triple and double. Randy Clark cracked three hits, including a double, while Tim Murray tripled and singled.
Also for Mercer Bowl (2-1), Eric "Skinner" Bombeck singled twice and Jon Murray scored four runs. Kopan struck out out four batters in seven innings of work.
For Elephant & Castle/Inn 62, Andrusky tripled and doubled while Schultz doubled and singled. Tatomarovich tripled while Gassner doubled and singled.
