MERCER BOWL 17, DOUBLE D ENTERPRISES 8
SOUTH PYMATUNING -- Host Mercer Bowl broke open a close game by scoring seven runs in the sixth inning at Patagonia Senior Thursday night in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Brian Bodien paced the Mercer Bowl offense with a triple, double and single while Bryan Bailey doubled as part of a three-hit night. Devin Corini and Jim Kopan both cracked three-run home runs while Dave Bodien and Billy Schumacher both had two singles.
Kopan pitched six innings to record the win. He struck out five. Tim Murray pitched a scoreless seventh inning in relief.
For Double D Enterprises, Jay Ference doubled as part of a three-hit effort. Mike Mattes doubled and singled, as did Sponsler. Tallman added a double.
