PIONEER HOME EQUITY 12, THUNDERPLEX 6 (8 INNINGS)
VIENNA -- Pioneer Home Equity scored twice in the seventh to force extra innings, then posted a six-run outburst in the top of the eighth to earn a 12-6 victory over host Thunderplex Thursday night.
Thunderplex led 5-3 with one out in the seventh but Alex Giroski tripled and scored on a Jim Kopan sacrifice fly. With two outs, John Cascio walked, stole second and scored on Dave Lander's double to left. In the eighth, Lynn Saternow's two-run triple put Pioneer (9-2) ahead to stay.
Giroski also doubled twice and scored three runs while Cascio also doubled and scored three times. Saternow pitched all eight innings to earn the win, striking out four.
David Harries homered and singled for Thunderplex (2-9) while Ed Rogers tripled, doubled and singled. Chuck Fizet and Boog Balzic each doubled while Jay Ference and Drew Carpenter both had a pair of singles. Lindsay Mizicko took the loss for Thunderplex, pitching all eight innings.
