SPLITZ 6, CHICCARINO'S 4
HERMITAGE -- Splitz (12-6) rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to earn a 6-4 home win over Chiccarino's Thursday night at St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Fred Sloan paced Splitz' 11-hit attack by tripling and singling. Jonathan Smith and Tony Meriello both went 2 for 3 and Smith also knocked in two runs. Winning pitcher Bob Young allowed four runs and 11 hits in seven innings.
For Chiccarino's (7-9), Greg Wise and John Wise both went 2 for 3. Randy McConnell doubled. Chiccarino's stranded 11 runners, including six in scoring position. Losing pitcher Ryan Briggs allowed six runs and no walks in six innings.
Splitz completed a three-game season sweep with the win. The teams scored a total of 23 runs combined in the three games. Splitz won 4-3 May 25 and earned a 6-1 win July 6.
