HERMITAGE -- Tim Murray fired his first career no-hitter Sunday as Mercer Bowl picked up its third victory of the season. Murray took a perfect game into the fifth inning and finished the afternoon with a five-inning no-hit shutout.
Mercer Bowl broke the game open with a 14-run first inning. Chad McCombs paced the attack by going 5 for 5 with a three-run homer. Devin Corini and Justin Songer also belted homers for Mercer Bowl (3-2). Jim Kopan doubled as part of a three-hit night while catcher Dave Bodien ripped four singles.
Craig Songer and Eric "Skinner" Bombeck both singled twice. Murray helped his cause with a double.
